研究方向 

  西太平洋深水洋流演化:谁主导着末次冰期冰消期全新世西太平洋深层水?北太平洋深层水vs环南极深层水?

  《庄子.秋水》篇中,北海神若曰“天下之水,莫大于海。万川归之,不知何时止而不盈;尾闾泄之,不知何时已而不虚;春秋不变,水旱不知。”然而,大海是否真的一直不变呢?其实从大约3万年前开始的末次冰期至今,海平面经历了大幅下降再回升的巨大变化,在最冷的末次盛冰期(距今约2年),海平面比今天约低134m

  在海平面发生变化的时候,海洋深处又发生了怎样的变化呢?太平洋是地球第一大洋,也是全球重要的碳储库之一,太平洋环流对于调节全球气候变化具有重要意义。现代观测表明,当今西太平洋深层水的主要来源是环南极深层水,由环南极深层水在北太平洋上翻形成的北太平洋深层水对西太平洋深层水影响较小?西太平洋现代环流格局在冰期时是否会发生变化,又会发生怎样的变化呢?

  海洋微体生物浮游有孔虫在沉积到海底之后,其壳体表面形成铁锰氧化物覆层,该铁锰氧化物覆层可以富集底层海水中的稀土元素。从浮游有孔虫中提取的海水钕(Nd)同位素信息,可以重建末次冰期以来的西太平洋深水洋流的演化历史。
